CANOWINDRA RED DRAGON
AKA BRYN - Swagger and Diva's son.
Bryn – formerly Fozzie, was the youngest in Diva’s first litter
aka The Muppet Litter. I had hoped to breed a dog that liked to drag-hunt.
Kermit was tracking his litter-mates around the back lawn at seven weeks old,
and my grandson, aged six had decided that this was the dog for him and Kermit’s
future was secured. It remains to be seen whether he becomes a working hound.
Miss Piggy, the only girl in the litter was destined to go to Surrey to be the
adored pet of a young man who absolutely dotes on her. This left Fozzie. From
the minute his eyes were opened, I had the feeling we’d met before! Several
people came to view and left saying they’d let me know – nobody seemed to want
this gorgeous tan and white boy. I had heard that of all the beagle colours,
tan and white was the least sought after, surely once they’d seen him they’d
change their minds – wouldn’t they? Then a friend challenged me, suggesting the
reason that I hadn’t sold him was because I didn’t want to. I thought about it
and realised that she was right. Against all expectation, Fozzie was growing
into a beautiful dog with, dared I think it? Show potential! I asked around.
Should I run him on – of course I should. So we started ring-craft;
at 12 weeks old he stood on the table like he was born to it. He
went round the hall with – wonders! – His head held up! He was a born show
boy!!
Bryn started his show career in October 2008 and has won a few
firsts and other prizes at open shows. His most notable achievement in April
2009 was ending his puppy career at The Chippenham & district Canine Society
with Best Puppy In Breed and Puppy Group 4. Now he’s up there with the juniors,
and has won Reserve several times in Crufts qualifying classes. We have decided
that his promise needs nurturing and have given Swagger temporary retirement to
concentrate on Bryn’s show career. Bryn is now owned in partnership with
Charlotte Norridge.
Bryn is also a dad! He is the proud father of Pippin’s latest
